Slava baked cake

Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg of flour
  • 3 packets of Aleva dry yeast
  • 50 ml of milk
  • Grated lemon zest
  • A little bit of holy water
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 100 g of melted butter
  • 1 egg yolk

  • Sifted flour should be well mixed with 3 packets of Aleva dry yeast. Add all other ingredients and mix briefly with a mixer on the lowest speed, then for five minutes on the highest speed.

  • Once a smooth dough is formed, leave it to rest in a warm place until it visibly rises. Knead the dough briefly on a floured surface.

  • Separate a quarter of the dough and set it aside. Shape the remaining dough into a ball, place it in a greased and floured baking pan, and press it lightly. Brush the surface of the bread with egg yolk.

  • From the reserved dough, shape decorations such as roses, a cross, a grapevine, and a wheat stalk. Arrange them on top of the bread and press them gently. Let the bread rest for about 20 minutes, then place it in a preheated oven and bake for about 50 minutes at 180°C.
