The preservative (sodium benzoate) is used to extend the shelf life of homemade juices, syrups, jams, and pickled products. It effectively inhibits the growth of yeasts, molds, and bacteria, preserving the freshness and stability of the products during storage. It is added in small quantities according to instructions, usually at the end of the preparation process.
